Standing

Stone

The Standing Stone, rising 44 feet above the riverbed, cannot be seen from the highway, but is an imposing sight for fishermen and canoeists on the Susquehanna River. Obviously, the stone, left in position by retreating glaciers, penetrates the river bed for many, many feet as it has withstood centuries of floods and ice jams.
